The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival started off more than 30 years ago, in the early 90s, as a small gathering of music enthusiasts, growing to become the ultimate escape for melomaniacs looking to combine their traveling and music pleasures. The event has been echoing all around the world and we can certainly talk about an international reputation 30 years later.
Hundreds of artists have performed on the stages of Saint Lucia over the years: A-listers like pianists Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, guitarists George Benson, Earl Klugh, Jonathan Butler, Brazil’s pianist and vocalist Tania Maria, and contemporary Jazz mainstays Acoustic Alchemy and Esperanza Spalding.
The festival has undergone name changes as well, from Saint Lucia Jazz to Jazz & Arts Festival, as a celebration of the multitude of genres showcased throughout the years: Smooth Jazz, POP, R&B, Roots Reggae, Soca, Salsa, and many more. The festival coordinators perfected the entire festival concept into a 10-day glorification of Saint Lucian culture – art, dance, theatre and cuisine, culminating on Mother’s Day.
